my week

March 31, 2006

This week has been fairly busy, hence why I haven’t posted much lately. Welcome to at least the next two years of my life:) (Which I might say I am looking very forward to!) So the summary of my recent week…

Ben had a business trip this week, so he was gone for several days. So my mom came and visited me, which was pretty cool although I missed Ben a lot. I only worked two days this week, that way my mom and I had plenty of time to hang out. Before she got here I made a list of a bunch of stuff we could do and when she arrived we added some more to the list. Well we actually did everything except I think two things on the list! We packed a lot into only a couple days, but it was fun to get to hang out! One of the things we did was make pillows for the couch Ben & I got (which was delivered on Tuesday!!!). The pillows look pretty cool if I might say so and the couch is really nice! I will definitely post some pics of the couch & pillows. Not tonight though, but maybe sometime this weekend…

Of course a visit from my mom would not be complete without a little tiramisu for dessert, some shopping (even if it is just wal-mart and the fabric store), and nowadays it would seem a little bit of sewing:)

I cannot believe I am graduating in just a little over a month! It almost feels like all the hard work was worth it;) (I know that it is, I just have to joke a little bit about it!) I was thinking just the other day about how much has happened in the last year or so, and I can hardly believe it. Getting married, getting Pounce, moving to a new city, working as a vet assistant, getting Axel, getting accepted to the vet tech program, and now graduating with my undergrad in Business… it has definitely been an eventful and great year in a lot of ways!

I took some more pics of the cats today, so I will probably post a couple when I get a chance. They were sitting enjoying the spring air through the window and it was pretty cute. Enjoy the weekend!

I am almost done with my first sewing project that I started in my sewing class. It is a “blouse” as my sewing teacher called it. I would prefer to refer to it as a shirt with buttons on it:) All I have left is to sew the buttonholes and add the buttons and the shirt will be complete. It isn’t probably something I normally would have picked if given a choice of what exactly to sew, although I have to say that it hasn’t turned out too bad. When I have the buttons on and everything I will probably take a picture and post it so everyone can see my first project.

Since I was so close to the end of the first project, I also started a second project. (Can you tell I am kind of procrastinating on the scary buttonhole part of the first project? Buttonholes may look simple, but I will never again take them for granted… even with an automatic buttonhole maker on my sewing machine!) My second project is some scrub tops for work with the cool fabrics that I posted on my blog at an earlier time (see archives). I am starting with a cheap fabric that I bought to try things out on, so that maybe I can even be brave and modify the pattern slightly. It should be interesting to see how that turns out.

Axel and Pounce slept all day long today. I think they are going to be awake all night! It was too cute though to wake them up, since most the day they were laying right next to each other cuddling.

london

March 24, 2006

I randomly happened upon a fun little quiz that tells you what city you belong in. So I was curious to see what it would say for me. Kind of interesting:)

You Belong in London

A little old fashioned, and a little modern.

A little traditional, and a little bit punk rock.

A unique woman like you needs a city that offers everything.

No wonder you and London will get along so well.

bird watching

March 24, 2006

Pounce and Axel have decided that they do share some common interests. Such as being nocturnal, chasing fuzzy mice toys and hiding them under the stove, drinking out of the sink, taking naps all day long, and several other interests. So since they share so much in common they have decided to take up a hobby together, bird watching. To assist them with their new hobby of bird watching, Ben kindly installed a bird feeder out on our patio so they can enjoy the birds and occasional squirrel.

So yes these pictures really are of the two of them watching birds. The amazing thing is that they actually sat still for me to take these pictures. Usually when I pull the camera out one or the other comes running so close to me that I can’t take a picture. For those of you unsure of which cat is which, in the top picture Pounce is the cat furthest away and Axel is closest to the camera. In the bottom picture they switched sides so Pounce is laying down in front and Axel is sitting in the back. The way we tell the difference is that Pounce has really defined stripes while Axel’s stripes are mostly on his tail and leg. They are definitely pretty adorable together and a lot of fun to have around!

time to relax

March 21, 2006

Tomorrow I get to relax:)

Well, actually I have a bunch of stuff to get done, but I still plan on setting aside some time to just enjoy my day and relax a little.

Pounce and Axel are becoming friends. They still fight a little at times, but it is becoming more of a little brother type of thing I think. The cute thing is that they insist on being in the same room. When one goes to a different room (no matter which one it is) the other immediately follows. It is pretty adorable and kind of reminds me of the early days with Kittie & Patch (except Kittie was a dog…).

Reese got adopted and is going home tomorrow (as long as the people come to get her of course, unfortunately people do back out at the last minute…). I think I may actually cry when I go to work and she isn’t there. I am happy for her, but will miss her at the same time. If only we had a house….

I think when I get old, I may be one of those crazy old ladies with a ton of cats (& dogs in my case). (If anyone is reading this who fits this description, I am not making fun of those ladies obviously since I think I might be one of them some day:). In reality, I just really love being around animals. They definitely add a little something special to life.

I cannot wait till I am a vet tech:)
