Birdie Sling & color week – day 4

A finished project & a bit of pink for color week…

So the other day when I spent most of the day sewing instead of laundry & everything else that needed doing, this is one of the projects I was working on. I used the Birdie Sling pattern by Amy Butler for this bag, after seeing Erin’s bag I just couldn’t resist picking up this pattern.

I did make a couple of changes to the bag… I added a magnetic snap fastener to the inside of the bag to keep it closed. I also made some changes to the pockets. The pattern called for one large & one “small pocket (which was also quite large). So I shortened the larger pocket (above) a little bit, since I didn’t think it needed to be quite so deep.

Then I decided instead of one large “small” pocket, I would make 2 smaller pockets (above). One for my cellphone and one for my bus tickets (so I don’t have to go searching for those in my wallet or the bottom of my bag). I also added a key holder so I wouldn’t have to go digging for my keys at the bottom of the bag. (Always a problem with large bags:)

It is definitely a large bag, but I really like how it turned out! So much that I keep thinking of other fabrics that would go well with this pattern :)

color week – day 3

Today’s color was yellow, which is not a color that we have a lot of in our house. So I had to go outside to capture some yellow today.

At the park with one of my friends & her kids…

I did finish one of my sewing projects this morning, and I think I will share it tomorrow since it also works with tomorrow’s color :)

color week – day 2

From a quiet moment in the day…

(Please excuse the fact that it the bed isn’t made… He looked way too comfortable for me to move him :)

I am trying to find the colors this week inside my home as an extra little challenge and this was the only purple in our whole entire house. Tomorrow’s color is yellow though and I think we have even less of that in our house than purple :)

I spent most of today sewing, at the expense of all the laundry and other chores that really needed doing… Hopefully I will have a couple of finished projects to show for it soon. Although I think tomorrow I really need to get some other things on my to do list finished up.
