packing & a giveaway

No I am not shipping Axel express, he is definitely a keeper :) Actually he is helping me pack because we are moving. (Well his kind of helping at least…) We are just moving across the city from our apartment into a townhome. Not a big move, but enough to keep me busy.

While we love our current apartment, it is definitely going to be lovely living in our new place. Lately, I can hardly hear myself think during the day due to construction going on right outside our window. (They are building another big apartment building behind ours…) The move is going to be wonderful, I will still have a studio & in fact I will have a studio completely to myself! :) Ben gets a garage and a little more room for his own hobbies. So we are very excited! I expect there might be a few decorating posts in the next month or so… I am already picking out paint colors and quite excited to do a bit more decorating :)

Along with packing stuff up, I am trying to get rid of a few things too so I thought maybe I would do a couple of giveaways this week. The first giveaway is some lightly read copies of books that I enjoyed and thought it would be fun to pass along…

From top to bottom:

  1. Grayson by Lynne Cox
  2. The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks
  3. Knitting Under the Influence by Claire LaZebnik
  4. The Smart One and the Pretty One by Claire LeZebnik
  5. The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs
  6. Knit Two by Kate Jacobs

Just leave a comment mentioning which book (or books) you would like and I will enter you in a drawing to win one of these. I will go ahead and announce the winners on Friday afternoon. For this first giveaway I think I do have to limit it to those in the U.S. though, since postal prices have gone up lately and books weigh a bit more than fabric items… Hope all my international friends understand! Thanks :)

tiffany - oh chara!
what a brilliant idea… i’ll have to remember that when i move and have to, achingly, pack up my library.
i have to say, i really enjoyed knitting under the influence… and would probably enjoy the smart one and the pretty one… so, that’s going on my list of which book i’d like from your list.
thanks lady!
i can’t wait to see your new home and your very own studio space! yay!

metrosupial designs - I never read anymore, so I’ll let the entries go to others…but I hope your move goes swiftly!

Holly - Congratulations on your soon-to-be new home! That’s great! I kind of like moving. (Did I just say that?) It’s such hard work, but the cleaning and purging and unpacking and more purging and organizing and decorating and arranging…it’s fun.

I have been meaning to read the Kate Jacobs books, so would love to be in the running for them.

Good luck with everything!

Cami - What a great idea. I am also in the moving stage, although mine is a lot further (UT to NC). I have already read the Friday Night Knitting club and would like to read the second one (Knit Two). Please enter me for that one. I never heard of knitting under the influence. Is that a good one?

LeeAnn - Good luck on the move! I’ve read most of them already so I’d love to have Grayson by Lynne Cox or The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks on my night stand. Don’t forget about the Media Mail option at USPS. Super, super cheap. I bet you could box up all those books and ship them off for under $5. Packed in a bubble mailer and your looking about a buck. The down side- it can take 10 days to get there.

Sandy - Oooh – I need a new book. Please count me in for # 3 and 4. Thanks!

Gracie - Wow, Chara! Congratulations on your upcoming move! That sounds really exciting, even though moving can be a bit of a pill. :P
I’m trying to expand my library actually so I would love to be entered into your giveaway. :)
Can’t wait to hear more about your new home.

Gracie - Oh, I forgot to say which one I wanted! Any of them…I haven’t ready any of those so whichever one(s) you liked best are the ones I would want to win if my name is chosen!

Rachel - Oh how fun! I would love any except the Sparks, which I have already read. 3+4 would be top picks. Congratulations on the move, I hope it goes smoothly!

Sarah - I do not envy you moving again already!

The fri night knitting club has been on my “to read” list for a long time. Maybe this is my chance to finally mark it off my list!

katie - How exciting to be moving to a new place with your very own studio!

I’d love to read the books by Kate Jacobs. I’ve been wanting to read them forever!

Liana - I always have to remember to pack shallow in my book boxes when moving. A few times I didn’t and DH was “mildly” suprised at the weight of the box. i’d be interested in any of them as I haven’t read them yet. I also have a few boxes if you want to meet up? like three decent size ones… LMK!

Loni - How exciting you guys decided to move into the townhouse you found! I’ll be sure to watch for those decorating posts. You have such unique and fun style, I can’t wait to see what you do with the new place. Congrats to you and Ben! :)

Debbie O - Packing is not for the faint of heart!!!
Best Wishes!!!
Regarding the books…
I ‘d love to read them all, especially the bottom four.

Kellie - I’ll put myself down for #3 Knitting Under the Influence by Claire LaZebnik

Mary - Ooh, what a fun giveaway! I’d take 3, 4, or 5. Remember to ship media mail!
