fabric giveaway!
I guess summer is officially here in the Pacific Northwest! :) Apparently I picked the hottest week of the year to want to work on a quilt, which seems a bit crazy. Even crazier is that what started as a lap quilt has quickly turned into a queen size quilt! I actually had the top of the quilt all pieced together by Friday. When I finished piecing it though, I decided I like it so much I want to use it on our bed. So I am in the process of adding more squares to it to make it queen size. After a quick run to the fabric store on Saturday where I was able to find several of the prints I had used up completely, I have to say not much progress has been made though. Instead I have been trying to relax as much as possible & enjoy this warm weather. (Although even I am missing central air conditioning a tiny bit this week – especially sitting here with my laptop which seems to put off more heat than my cats :)
So in celebration of summer, warm weather, and my blog’s new home I thought I would do a bit of a giveaway. 3 prizes, 3 winners, & 3 ways to enter! :)
2 lucky winners will each receive a stack of 10 fat quarters of the lovely fabrics above & 1 lucky winner will receive a $20 gift certificate to Pink Chalk Fabrics. The gift certificate was so generously donated for the giveaway from Kathy of Pink Chalk Fabrics! (Thanks Kathy!) All the lovely fabrics are also from Pink Chalk Fabrics if you just can’t wait to see if you win & need to get some of your own :) Her shop is one of my very favorite fabric shops online, so if you haven’t checked out her shop you really should :)
To be entered in the giveaway, all you have to do is leave a comment here on this post telling me what you would do with some lovely new fabrics, what you love about summer, how you found my blog, or really anything else you think I might like to know :)
But wait there is more! :) If you blog about my little giveaway or post the banner below in your sidebar with a link to my blog (and leave a comment here letting me know that you did) you will get another entry in the giveaway (for a total of 2 entries)!
And because I know you really want to win! :) If you sign up to subscribe to my blog feed (or if you already are subscribed) and you leave a comment letting me know you subscribed, you will get another entry in the giveaway (for a total of 3 entries) increasing your odds even more :)
I will draw 3 winners next Friday (August 7th). Good luck! :)

Am I really the first? I have been following you since your old blog and really missed you when you stopped blogging for awhile. I was so glad to receive your email telling me you were back with a new blog! The thing I love most about summer is the flowers blooming in my backyard and fresh tomatoes from my teeny tiny vegetable patch. BLT’s with just picked tomatoes are to die for!! Those fabrics are gorgeous!!
I’m not exactly sure what I would do with this lovely fabric but some would probably go towards the hot pads or bags that I’ve been making lately. And as far as summer goes, it is not my favorite time of the year. I don’t like the heat, which is ironic because I moved to Phoenix a couple years ago. But I do love watermelon and that is part of summer. Thanks for the fun giveaway!
I also subscribe. Thanks again!
I am a beginner “sewer” and would love to create some totes w/this lovely fabric! Jessica D.
I am new to your site, and was excited to hear about the give-away! My husband and I just moved from Oklahoma to Massachusetts, and I am having to start over in finding places for fabric, yarns, etc. For our cross-country move, we had to get rid of a lot… so the fabrics would probably be used to help refurnish our new home – maybe some throw pillows. :)
Beautiful fabrics!
Kathy is so wonderful! I love her shop too. That’s where I bought my little stack.
Happy Summer!
Yes, Pink Chalk is great! Let’s see…what would I do with new fabric? That is the million dollar question. Napkins…birthday bunting…and doll clothes. I think. :-)
I already subscribe! Actually, your old site is still listed in my reader as well. Might be time for me to clean up my subscriptions!
Ooh! Pretty! I would make a bag to take with me to school this fall! You can never have enough organization/storage/cute bags to carry things in, right?
Thanks for doing the giveaway!
PS: I posted about your giveaway on my blog!
Hi there! I can’t remember what series of links brought me here, but I’m glad I showed up!
And those fabrics are just lovely, what a generous giveaway! I think they’re screaming to be made into a funky, modern baby quilt. I might save the green stripe for the binding. :-)
Oh, and I am now subscribed! Glad that I’ll be able to see your crafting and awesome photography more often!
I am trying to catch up on my guild yearly challenge, a mini-quilt made with 4″ blocks and make some Project Linus quilts this summer.
Since I have central air I don’t mind staying in and sewing.
Those fabrics are lovely and would make a sweet quilt for one of my granddaughters.
I just happily subscribed. I’m looking forward to see what you will have for us.
I love sewing but have not been courageous enough to make a quilt…I think this is just what I need! Love your site, can’t wait to dive in and check everything out.
What a great giveaway Chara! I have about 3 quilts in progress but I just can’t seem to get my act together to finish them! Oh, and I’m going to subscribe right now because somehow I never did it when you go your new blog!! What a shame!!
Those fabrics sure are lovely! I’m not entirely sure what I’d make…maybe some skirts for my daughter, as it seems she’s a little low on those this summer. Thanks for the chance to win :)
Those fabrics are lovely! I would use the blues and greens to make a sweet baby quilt for my grandnephew, due to arrive in a month :)
I would also save some for applique onto onesies, and to make some plush blocks.
Happy Summer!
I would use these to make some pillows for my niece.

It’s winter here and the cats have completely stolen my sofa blankets so if I won the pretty pretty fabrics I think starting a lap quilt JUST FOR ME would be in order!
ha! my quilts often start out smaller (lap size) and end up becoming twin, full or king size quilts. it’s fun, isn’t it? the good thing is, it can’t go larger than a king. phew!
Oh Chara, I was just stopping by to tell you how much of a fan I am of you, your photo work, and your awesome blog. I cannot believe that you are having a give away, that is very cool of you. I’ll post a link to your give away in my next post…sweet!! Not expecting to win, but loving your blog as I always have.
wow, your quilt is going to look amazing. don’t worry about the heat, when you gotta quilt, you gotta quilt.
I’ve subscribed :)
What a great giveaway! I love summer – going to the beach with the kids is the best. I also love having fresh home grown veggies to eat from our garden.
Not sure what I would do with those wonderful fabrics if I won – maybe some tote bags, or use them in a quilt.
I forgot to add that I’m already a subscriber to your blog
I am looking forward to going to an antique flea market that happens every summer around here!
Oh and I am a subscriber!
Wow, those fabrics! such gorgeous cool colors. I would fondle those for a few months, THEN I’d love to make a zig zag quilt with them. I don’t really love summer, but I do love the quiet summer mornings. I get up very early every day, so that is a bonus. I found your blog through my sweet daughter. She know where’s it’s at! Here’s hoping to win from Idaho!
And happily, I am a subscriber to your great blog!
I am now also a subscriber! Hee hee…I really wanna win! lol. :)
What a generous giveaway! I’m sure I would use the fabrics for another bag. I’m working on a few new bag ideas so that fabric would go right to work!
I subscribed to your old blog and now that you are back I’m happy to report that I subscribe to your new blog, too! Wouldn’t miss all those great photos and neat projects for anything.
I love those fabrics, I think I’d make a lightweight lap quilt. My favorite thing about summer? Flip-flops! Thanks for the giveaway!
Glad you told us about your giveaway on SMS! :) I’m slowly building my stash of fabrics. Always nice to have lots of fabric for whatever I want to sew :)
Hi…I think I need a new skirt…so that’s waht I would make with new fabric! I found you from your post on SewMamaSew…and waht do I like about summer? days at the beach with the kids Thanks for the chance to enter.
…and I have just subscribed to your blog feed. Thanks
We are having a heat wave here on the opposite coast but we caved and put in the window units. What I love about summer is usually leaving the windows open from May to September! I came over from SMS. I really like the blues and greens, we’ve been doing a bit too much pink around here lately! I do love the Victorian looking floral stripes too though, could make a really sweet sleeveless shaped blouse. The blue and green prints would fit in with my slow moving sewing room makover. They’d be great for making dustcovers for my machines!
I just love all those colors. I love to make bags, but a small quilt would be fun. I am just dying to make a zig zag quilt.
Thanks for letting me nter.
Yay for a summer giveaway! I would love to use some pretty fabric squares for a quilted throw to curl under while watching movies (except this week, which is too hot hot hot for any such thing). I don’t remember how I first found your blog, since I have visited a number of times now! But I have just subscribed to your feed so that I can visit more often!
Uhh, how Iove the little fabric stacks on the pictures. I’ve been wanting to make a new cute apron with ruffles. I got some time on my hands before I have to get back to work in a few weeks…
Oh yeah, I am a subscriber!
i’m a subscriber!
My favorite thing about the summer this year is making jam with my mom. She used to make raspberry freezer jam all the time for us when we were kids, so this year she taught me! my best friend came over as well, so it was a fun girly day- no husbands! :)
I blogged about it, yay!
I would use them for a quilt, of course! Thanks for hosting such a fun giveaway!
I’m a subscriber, too…;)
oh so fantastic and very very summery! -kb
Lovely giveaway! You have a great blog. I am a big Pink Chalk fan too! Kathy is just so sweet!
Subscribed!
Yep sign me up…I just discovered your blog through True Up…Love Kathy’s site too….I will try to post a note about your giveaway on my site today…if I don’t succumb to the heat here…I will let you know if I do actually get it on there!!
Love the fabrics – not sure yet what I’d make out of them but with 4 kids, I’m sure I’ll find something for them! What’s the best thing about summer? Dutch Wonderland with the kids, swimming in the neighbor’s or cousins’ pools, grilling dinner – those are my favorites.
Hello,
I just came over from the Blog Topic you posted on SMS. I like your blog and feel so lucky that I ran right into this awesome giveaway. I have been procrastinating starting my first quilt. I think if I win one of these fq sets, I will get the push I need.
Thanks for the chance to win.
I am also subscribing to your blog feed now.
Enjoy the rest of the summer.
We had a “cool” spell here in Oklahoma this week. But it is expected to be hot again this coming week, back up to over 100 degrees. What better to do in the a/c? Quilt – during the day, the small piecing is better; then after the sun drops down behind the trees and the house begins to cool down, that the time for larger pieces under the presser foot.
I just susbribed to your blog. Now, I have something else to occupy my time besides quilting. – lol
Love your site.
I just posted a blog – the ONLY downside to blogging about the giveaway is letting all those others know about it and downing my chances – lol I hope one of the folks who learns about it from my blog wins! I’m sure the right person will win. I love fabric and the more I look at all the beautiful fabrics, I cannot decide which is my favorite. They are all beautiful. Thanks for the giveaway.
I love the fabric and I am in the process of making sundresses for my kindergarten girl to wear to school.
Been lovin’ your blog for a couple of months; first time commenting. I’m a Central Illinois girl like you (still here) and dream of living in the upper Northeast. One of my current fave fabrics is the Lucky Cat linen at Pink Chalk studios which would make the ideal pillow for my bed! And the irony would be yummy: lucky=winner (of contest)!! Good Luck to all!
As a fellow Pacific Northwester, I can completely sympathize with the heat wave. It was 108 here on Tuesday! We are quite fortunate to live in a horseshoe bend of a river, so we spent all day playing in the water. Which is one of my most favorite things to do in summer! Quilting outside is my next favorite and that is exactly where I would head with these fabrics! Well, actually, I just picked up some vintage patterns from my aunt and I would LOVE to make something cute for my baby girl with that super soft Far Far Away. Fingers crossed! Thanks so much for the generous giveaway! Hope you are keeping cool and having a wonderful weekend! :-)
Oh, I love your web site and the fab give-away. I would love to make a modern baby quilt with the beautiful fabric! Thanks!
I just found your blog on SMS forum. I love a good giveaway! Thanks :) I think I’d work on a baby quilt. I’m new to quilting and my “to-do” list is a mile long!!!
What a great give away!!!! Please enter me! These fabrics are so lovely and just beg to be made into something wonderful.
~Emily
Hi there! I found your website by searching Pink Chalk Fabrics on Twitter! Love your blog! If I win fabric I’d probably turn them into a baby quilt. I’m totally digging quilting again and working on building my stash (that’s why I’m buying over at Pink Chalk tonight too!).
Just wanted to let you know that I also subscribed to your blog as well – looks wonderful! I always need more inspiration!
I almost forgot to enter! We went on a little vacation to Branson, Mo. We saw Peter Pan with Cathy Rigby. It was fantastic and not your normal Branson fare.
We are sad that Summer is almost over here, but we’ve had your weather here I think. July was 70’s and 80’s. Amazing for Missouri!
Anyway, thanks for the giveaway! I’ve really enjoyed your blog.
Danna
Those are such pretty fabrics. I’m not sure what I would do with them if I won.. I always have to hold them and feel them when I decide. They give me inspiration.
That is beautiful fabric! I have been into making different handbags lately. That is what I would do! Thanks for a great giveaway. :)
Oh good it doesn’t look like I am too late. I came here from Marisa’s blog. I simply enjoy looking at fabric, but once in a while, I cut it up to make a quilt (especially small ones for my wall).
We’ve been having a mild summer here in WI, it’s been so great! I’m lovin’ the sweet corn right now and grilling out :-)
