heat wave

Because it is too warm here to get any crafting done, I am sitting here wishing it was cool enough to get some sewing done. The temp today is supposed to reach at least 103 degrees fahrenheit. My studio is on the 3rd (!) floor & we don’t have any air conditioning, so needless to say even walking upstairs sounds a bit too warm! (And this is coming from someone who thinks that Seattle summers are too cool after living in central Illinois – apparently not anymore :)

I thought I would share some of the lovely goodies I have received lately, while I sit here & dream up sewing projects and think about quilting in this heat. :)

Some lovely Far Far Away by Heather Ross fat quarters that I was able to find… Dreaming up yet another quilt with these fabrics. Or maybe a patchwork bag? Oh that sounds perfect! These fabrics are really super soft & lovely…

A needle case from a sweet blogging friend that she sent to me a couple months ago & I am just now using to store my needles in. This is going to be great for when I finally get around to sewing the binding on the quilts I have been working on lately… Now if the weather would cool down so I could get some more done on those quilts :)

More lovely goodies from another wonderful friend – Regina of Creative Kismet. Regina & I have become friends through our blogs and last year she so sweetly asked me to test a pattern for her. It was for the pillowcase skirt in this great book. It is just darling with the pintuck details and the ruffle hem. It makes a lovely skirt for summer! Well fast forward to this lovely surprise package with the book, a pretty pillowcase, and a cute postcard! Thanks Regina! It has me dreaming of thrifting some pretty pillowcases & maybe making another pillowcase skirt! :)

Two actual vintage feedsack fabrics! Even better than thrifted, these were found in my grandma’s house & given to me. I just love these prints! Wishing I could make a top out of the bottom print, but there is a hole in the fabric. I don’t know if I will be able to convince myself to cut into these. There is just so much history in these 2 fabrics. Maybe after these fabrics sit in my stash a little longer I will find the perfect project…

One of my grandma’s old film cameras. She was actually a portrait (& wedding) photographer too when she was younger & this was one of her camera’s. It is so amazing to be able to keep a bit of history with this & the above fabrics. Of course this vintage camera has me wishing I could get outside with my own camera…

So while I am sitting here waiting for the heat wave to pass, I will be dreaming up all the lovely projects I can work on once it cools down a bit :)
