so many quilts & so little time

I feel like I have so much to blog about I hardly know where to start! :) Lately I have been thinking up great blog posts in my head when I am away from my computer, and then when I sit down to actually write those posts I blank on what I was going to say… I think I need to just jump back in to find my voice. So expect a lot more posts from me in the next few weeks (including a couple of giveaways :).

Yesterday I started a new quilt which brings my total quilts in progress up to 4 – if you also count Amandajean’s nine patch quilt along that I just joined. She is starting round 2 and I missed out on round 1 so I just had to join in. Honestly for the quilt along I will probably end up making 7 blocks at the beginning or end of the week instead of a block a day…

The quilt I started yesterday is just a bunch of 6 inch squares from fabrics in my stash that I am going to piece together. I cut out all the squares yesterday & then set them out on my cutting table. I think this afternoon I will probably start sewing all of the squares together.

Totally wishing I had a quilt wall like the one that Katie has (last photo on that post). I had to set my cutting mats on top of the fabric layout I decided on, since I figured the cats might like to give their design input otherwise :)

gardening

Nothing crafty to show (unless you count my recent adventures into container gardening). Mostly I have been busy with summer around here – to do lists, reading a bunch, family visiting, & photography… Although I did take the first out of three classes for my serger. I loved it! I can’t wait to really start using my serger now, I have tons of projects in my head – now I just need the time to make each one :)

I did plant a little container garden on our balcony this last week with the help of my mom (I couldn’t have done it without her!). We had a lovely time picking out flowers & herbs (all on sale since it is the middle of the summer:) and getting each one planted. It was wonderful to have her help since I had never attempted anything similar to gardening before. I just love that we have the space for a little container garden. It is so nice to be able to look out the living room window and see flowers & green.

Thought I would share a few of my favorite photos that I took this week of my new little garden…

Besides these I have a few other projects I am working on…

- a couple more quilts
- some place mats for our dining table
- fabric art for the dining room
- a couple house projects (including some dining chairs I rescued recently and plan on painting & reupholstering)
- several photo shoots to process

Plus we have out of town guests coming to visit next week & I have been spending way too much time on etsy lately, finding lovely art for our home :)

Wishing I had a few more hours in the day, but enjoying every minute :)
