Can I just say that I love my job? Today I got to take some photos for a new fabric shop that is opening up here in Seattle. Fabric Crush is going to be a shop you definitely have to stop at if you are in the Seattle area! They are having a soft opening on Friday, October 2nd from 10a-2p. So if you are in the neighborhood, you should stop by this beautiful fabric boutique!

still here

Driving home from a photoshoot the other night, I snapped this shot while in the car…

Don’t worry, I wasn’t the one driving! (Oh and that is Mt. Rainier at the bottom partially hidden by clouds, but beautiful nonetheless.)

Things have been a bit busy lately,  I am still around though and plan on being in this space a bit more now :)

Simplicity 2655

I haven’t posted in over two weeks & I am really not sure how that happened. Time just seems to have a mind of its own lately & it feels like it flew away from me these last couple of weeks! (I really only meant to take the end of the week off from blogging,  not 2 whole weeks :)

I had an absolutely lovely visit with my mom though! Complete with some sewing, shopping, tea, and just girl time. Which is good since she is on another continent from me for the next couple of months, so chats & time with her will be reserved to skype & gmail chat…

While she was here visiting, we managed to start 3 sewing projects (skirt for her, dress for me, pants for me) & completely finish 1 of those (the skirt for her).  I seriously love working on projects with her around! Good conversation + laughing + someone to help when it gets too late at night to figure out what the pattern direction writers were thinking :)

I love the fabrics she picked out, absolutely perfect combination for this skirt! We used Simplicity 2655 & made view B without the pockets. We did have to estimate how much fabric to buy, since the pattern assumes you will only use one fabric instead of two for contrast. I love the contrast though & it gives the skirt a little more interest.

The best part, well besides having my mom to visit, was using my serger a bunch. So much fun! I am just loving my new serger (thanks to my sweet husband for that!). It really makes clothes making so much faster & actually a bit more fun too :)
