I am making a quilt for my sister (it is all cut out & ready to go) and picked out a fun pattern to use for it. However, due to some questions about the directions & the pattern I decided to test the pattern before making my sister’s quilt. Luckily I love how the test quilt turned out!
I used warm & natural for the batting (even though the instructions were very specific about using a different kind of batting – some polyester batting which I refuse to use) and it turned out just fine. Even better than if I had used their suggested batting! I did learn a couple things in the process too. Like the instructions were ridiculously long & wordy. So I wrote down the necessary steps on index cards, which will make the next quilt a lot easier!
Front & back of the quilt…
And since I have no use for a quilt this size (it measures approx 29 in x 37 in – perfect for a little baby quilt), I thought I would do a little giveaway. If you want this cute quilt for yourself or to give to someone who could use it -
- Subscribe to my blog (if you haven’t already)
- Leave a comment on this post
- For an extra entry in the drawing (totally optional), blog about this post (and leave me a comment to let me know you did :)
I will draw a random winner in a couple days :)
Giveaway now closed. Thanks everyone!
Lovely!!!
Wow! How long did it take for you to cut out the circles and put this quilt together! I’m motivated to do mine now!
Hey, that turned out really cute! Love your ‘test’ fabrics too – much nicer than anything I’d use for a throwaway project! I’d be happy to win it – darn friends are getting pregnant all the time. :-)
Cute.. I would like to win it for my baby boy… perfect for baby quilt :D
I already subcribed to your webpage’s blog via Google Reader. I am knowing this fabulous giveaway by following your blog daily :D
Thanks for the chance..
I’ve never seen a quilt quite like this one. Adorable! I love dots and I love quilts, so my fingers are crossed. Thank you for the opportunity.
How beautiful! 4 of my friends are pregnant right now, and I would have to flip a coin to pick one, but it would be worth it!
This is such a neat quilt. I was browsing through Sew Mam Sew’s flickr pool and happened upon your blog. Do you mind if I ask the source of the pattern? I’d love to make one.
Wow Chara! What a beautiful little blanket. I’ll make sure to post about this and your fun photo-along. I’ll have to start playing too!
I am a brand-new RSS follower, and am glad to have found your blog, because I, too, live in the Pacific NW and love photography and quilting–and can see there’s a lot I can learn from you!
Like Ellie, I’m curious about this pattern. And I think your idea of making index cards to hit the highlights is a great one. I sometimes laminate a pattern page if it’s something I’ll be referring to over and over again, like a cutting and piecing diagram for a many-pieced pattern.
Thanks for the generous giveaway.
Its beautiful Chara! I love it :o)
Lovely quilt, but shucks, I’m too late to enter! :(
