Snow Storm

Just a few photos from the snowstorm this week… It was actually a pretty decent snowstorm by Seattle standards, along with some ice as well, and left us without power for over 16 hours. (By the time our power turned back on, it was 56 degrees F in our house – so we were quite glad when the heat kicked back in :) Anyways a few photos…While I am not a fan of the cold or snow, Kairo just absolutely loved it! It was like the world turned into one giant, frozen, teething toy just for him :) Our little snow puppy…

The deer looked beautiful against the snowy backdrop (although I don’t think they were fans)…

Hope everyone is staying warm wherever you are! (For those of you in the southern hemisphere, I am a bit jealous that you have summer right now :)

Our four little creatures

I did a little studio session for all 4 creatures in the house at the beginning of December. I had kind of planned on trying to send out Christmas cards, but I got sick & life got so busy. So instead I thought I would just blog these :)

Our sweet, energetic, playful Kairo…

Our darling, audacious, talkative Izze…

Our handsome, confident, caring Axel…

Our adorable, gregarious, lion Pounce…

And just in case you think we have 4 calm animals, Kairo is definitely still a crazy puppy & the cats don’t always cooperate :) There were a few outtakes…

(Although sometimes the outtakes end up being the most fun :)

Kairo has grown a bit since these photos & both of his ears now stick straight up, but I love these since they are the only studio photos I have had the chance to take of him so far :) I think these were also the first studio pics I have taken of Izze as well! I guess I need to get to taking more of everyone! :)

Lessons Learned (so far)

I can hardly believe it but Kairo is now 13 weeks old! I know puppies grow fast, but it still is shocking to wake up some mornings & realize he has grown overnight! That is just plain weird :)

So what have I learned these past few weeks? Well, puppies are a LOT of work & definitely not for everyone… It takes a lot to train them & get things right…

I am proud of our little guy, since he hasn’t even started puppy classes & already we have house trained him plus I have taught him come, sit, down, stand, and shake (paws). Still there is far more to go & puppy class starts soon.

The best things I have learned though is that puppy daycare is totally worth it (for the socialization experience & giving everyone a small break). Also, the best puppy teething toy – a wet washcloth wrapped up & frozen. Who knew! (Although don’t try this if you don’t want your puppy to have a fascination with towels/terry cloth fabric. I decided it was worth it in our case :)

Other things I have learned… It is nearly impossible to get anything done with a young puppy around! :) Although it is also a lot of joy! Puppy snuggles are definitely one of life’s joys :) (And totally make up for needing to replace our kitchen baseboard moldings ;)

Oh & the last lesson, everyone loves a puppy :) Although I keep telling Kairo to soak it up now because when he is a 90 lb adult German Shepherd all those same people will be scared of him ;)

No photos, because well see the above comment about time :) I will try to get some up soon though :)
