So not so little at 8 months old, but still very much a puppy! (This next photo makes me laugh, because he totally got all crazy when he realized he could splash around in the water – it totally shows what a puppy he is still :)

The continuing sewing room/office project. I absolutely love, love, love the wall color – the grey is so beautiful & looks crisp against the white trim (some of which is in & some will be added). We are a little further along than these photos show, although I am having some trouble deciding on some of the details (that I really thought I had decided on until I went to the store)… I just thought it would be fun to show the in betweens of this project. I promise to share a big reveal when it is all finished of course :) Getting so excited!

I tend to have a short attention span when it comes to sewing & quilting projects, so of course I brought a couple to work on… A purse I am making for a dear friend who is moving away…

The circles quilt I am making my sister…

I finally have all the circles finished, so now I am working on piecing & quilting all of them together. The best part about making it to the sew in was that I had space to lay out all the circles & plan the order/design.

Of course I had to get some photos of the beautiful projects some of the other ladies were working on…

Hopefully it won’t be another two years before I make it to another sew in, but being in another guild as well & having so much going on in life does make it a bit difficult to get to these. If you are in Seattle & looking for a great group of women to quilt with, definitely take a look at the Seattle Modern Quilt Guild. It is a great group!

These are really easy to make & a great way to switch out your artwork when you get bored! I used fabric, but you could also use scrapbooking paper (you just might have to get creative & tape or glue it instead of stapling).

To make your own fabric wall art you need -

• Fabric
• Several cheap painting canvases (you can get the really cheap ones, since you won’t be painting on these – I bought mine at dickblick)
• A staple gun

I have also seen people use foam core, but personally I think the painting canvases will hold up better over the long run & look a little nicer wrapped…

1 – Anyways, cut your fabric to size. Be sure to cut enough to wrap it around the sides & the back. My canvases are 12″ square, so I believe I cut my fabric about 14″ square.

2 – Wrap & staple while pulling the fabric tight so that it doesn’t wrinkle. (It is best if you have two people for this step, one to staple & one to hold the fabric. Just be very careful of fingers & hands!)

Pretty easy! It doesn’t take a lot of fabric & the canvases are not very expensive, so it is a great art option (and I won’t feel guilty changing it out if I get tired of the fabric!).

The last quilt just amazes me with all those little hexagons… Not being someone who ever hand pieces or hand quilts, it does inspire me to want to try someday.

I have to say that seeing all the quilts at the show really inspired me to want to enter a quilt in the show for the quilt guild I recently joined. Of course, that would mean getting started right away on a quilt so that it could be ready in time for the fall show. I guess we will just see :)

This baby receiving blanket is totally not going to be a surprise (more than likely), since the mom-to-be (my sister in law) sometimes reads my blog. However, I just couldn’t resist sharing this (before I even sent it in the mail – after all the baby isn’t due for a couple more months ;).

I used the cutest cotton with puppies on it for the front (since they have 2 “older siblings” in the form of two darling dachshunds). Then the back is a soft polka dot flannel, perfect for wrapping baby up all nice & warm…

Now to get this in the mail for the little one before his arrival! :)

Just for fun – next to my canon…Anyways, I wanted something smaller however the thing is a point & shoot wasn’t going to cut it for me. I shoot everything on manual and couldn’t stand to give up that control. Plus I wanted something that was small but would take photos that looked like they could have been taken on my 5d Mark II. So instead of a point & shoot I got this sweet little camera that lets me shoot completely on manual & is pretty awesome. Loving being able to carry a camera again on a daily basis (even while trying to manage the dog!) & take more photos just for myself!

Our weekend was full of painting my sewing studio/office, house work, taking care of the sweet pup, and photography work for me. In between though there were little moments of life to enjoy :) Thought I would share some of those…

My sewing room is coming along nicely – I completely finished painting my fabric cupboards, I painted the ceiling yesterday, and the walls are primed & ready to be painted. After the walls, my sweet husband will rip out the carpet & lay down the new flooring I picked out. It has been a big project, but I am loving the results so far! As soon as the dust settles I am looking forward to sewing again :)

Oh, I also got a new camera that I am loving so far! I am doing somewhat of a “trial” run to see if I want to keep it, but so far I love it! I am sure there will be photos around here soon from that :)

Of course the puppy is taking up a lot of time, along with my business, the house projects, and we have family coming to visit the end of the month… So I will probably remain a little quiet on the blog for awhile longer, but as soon as things quiet down at the end of the month expect to see me around here a bit more :)
